History
This very early model 1/4 ton 4x4 Willys MB Jeep was manufactured in Toledo, Ohio, by Willys-Overland Motors, Inc., on the second day of production, November 24th, 1941. Willys made its first 25,808 MB Jeeps with a welded flat iron "slat" radiator grill. This jeep is numbered 585 off the production line. There are believed to be as few as 200 Slat Grill Jeeps in existance today.
This vehicle was professionally restored in 2002 by Mike's Military Motors of Santa Rosa, California
A classic example of the early-WWII Army Jeep, this one mounting a .50-cal Browning machine gun that has been converted to operate with acetylene, but in noise only -- the barrel is plugged. This is also one of the EWM restored vehicles which represents the Estrella WarBirds Museum in local community events.
