Former Gift Shop Manager, former board member, for Estrella Warbirds Museum
Jacqueline was born on August 12, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois. She passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2015 in Atascadero, California.
Survived by her life partner and husband Ronald Brooks of 59 years, their daughters Debbi Lee Brooks and Ronda Dynice Brooks, grandsons Tielor Daniel Brooks and Teyvon John Hersey Brooks, half brother Elmer Martin McDerment, and brother-in-law Bernard Fernandez, nephews Eric Thomas Fernandez (Melissa) and Christopher Thomas Fernandez (Christina),and grandnieces Rachel McDerment, Ashley Fernandez and Nicole Fernandez, and a host of friends. She was proceeded in death by her beloved half sister Royalene Fernandez, mother Florence McDerment and father Royal McDerment.
Jackie Brooks
At 5 years old her family moved from Illinois to Dinuba in the San Joaquin Valley in California. Later her family moved to the South Bay area in Los Angeles. She met her future husband Ronald at 17 and married in 1956 in Lomita and raised their 2 daughters there. Upon Ron’s retirement in 1991, they decided to move to the Central Coast in Atascadero in 1995. Jackie became actively involved with and enjoyed volunteering at the Charles Paddock Zoo Gift Shop for several years. Then Jackie and her husband joined the Estrella Warbird Museum and became actively involved there to the present.
Jackie had sparkling hazel eyes and a cheery smile with a happy and positive attitude. Always gave encouraging words to those around her. She loved helping others. She was small in stature but had a heart of a lion to champion others. She loved cake decorating, gardening, home decorating and Amateur Radio as N6QOB. She enjoyed watching her backyard of visiting wild birds, especially humming birds. Loved planting things and watching them grow and bloom. With her 2 grandsons living nearby, Jackie enjoyed being involved with their activities and watched them grow up.
