The Eagle Flight Simulator has Landed!
Estrella WarBirds Museum has recently introduced their FA/18 Hornet Flight Simulator from Eagle Flight Sims! The original FA/18 flight simulator has been upgraded with new software, plus located in a new room of our museum building, Freedom Hall. The simulator has been part of an on-going project since the opening of Freedom Hall. It has taken countless hours and labor from many volunteers to bring this phase to fruition. The flight simulator will be available during most normal museum hours. Reservation for half hour flight time will be taken in advance, or available on first-come basis during non-reserved time.
The simulator allows any pilot, or non-pilot, to simulate real time flight while sitting in the cock-pit of an FA/18. However, with the new software upgrade, you can now choose to take command of one of over 30 different military planes ranging from a radial engine F4U Corsair to one of the largest transport jets in the world, the C5 Galaxy! A complete list of available plane simulations is located here.
The "heads-down" digital display in the cockpit changes to simulate many of the gauges typical to that plane. Many of the FA18 controls have been likewise modified to emulate the same controls of the various planes. Once the pilot receives his pre-flight briefing, he will be able to communicate with the control tower (or other pilots when additional simulators are added in the future). The additional 3D sound system provides increased realism to the cockpit environment. The large "heads up" projection display covers the front wall of the simulator room, all of which adds to the visual sensations of flight.
You can now choose our level of involvement, from a first time pilot in a normal airspace, to a high energy, multi-relfex required, fighter pilot in the middle of intense combat. The thrill is yours!
In addition to the wide variety of aircraft simulations, you would also have options for different environments, whether they be taking off from a dirt runway or launching via a catapult from the USS "Connie." Like-wise, the system operator has options for day or night, cloud or fog cover, multiple aggressor aircraft to fight against, and, a whole slew of armament and ordinance systems. For the not-so faint of heart, KA4D Refueling planes remain aloft to provide support if you run low on jet fuel.
Plan ahead! Reserve your space today! Available time is limited. |
