Director
Jerry Takier was born in Redondo Beach, California where he spent most of his childhood. He moved to Bakersfield for his high school years and enlisted in the Army shortyly after graduation.
After five years, he turned in his Sergeant stripes for a trial by fire at Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, graduating in 1966. He served two tours in Viet Nam. The first was as an Infantry Platoon Leader and the second as a helicopter pilot. He flew UH-1's (Huey), OH-6's (Loach) and AH-1G (Cobra) aircraft.
In 1974, Jerry graduated from the University of Columbus, Columbus, Georgia, with a degree in Accounting. It turns out flying helicopters is dangerous and pushing pencils is not. Shortly after his release from active duty, he went to work for Ernst & Ernst, now Ernst & Young, and later became an Auditor with Mobile Oil Company.
In 1984, he had a chance to obtain his own accounting firm on the Central Coast. He opened an office in Arroyo Grande, with a second in Atascadero in 2001. In 2008, he opened a third office in Morrow Bay. He currently splits his time among the three offices, providing tax, accounting, financial and insurance services.
Jerry loves history and has found a second home at Estrella Warbirds Museum. He is a simulator operator at the Museum and you can find his wife of 43 years, Penny, greeting our visitors and help out in the Gift Shop.
