Frank Arceiro, Sr., had a long successful and extremely interesting career as a race car owner. His cars raced at tracks throughout the United States as well as internationally.
Frank and his brother Phil immigrated from Italy in 1939 at the age of 14 and 10. The brothers worked together in the concrete business in Southern California and eventually building their company into one of the largest concrete contracting businesses in the world.
Frank became involved in racing in 1957. He was well known in Southern California, especially at Riverside Raceway. Although involved in many types of racing, he was best known for his Indy Car racing. His drivers are a who's who of famous and talented drivers such as Parnelli Jones, Dan Gurney, Bobby and Al Unser, and Michael Andretti just to name a few. Frank raced his cars from the mid 1950's until 2003 which makes him one of the longest, if not the very longest team owner in Championship, or as most people refer to it, Indy Car Racing.
The car on display at the Woodland Auto Display is one that was intended for 31 year old driver Jeff Krosnoff. Jeff had a very bright future ahead of him. However, he was involved in a horrendous accident with 3 laps to go in an Indy Car Race in Toronto in July o 1966. He was killed instantly along with one of the corner workers.
During the mid 1990's, Frank turned his attention to the vineyard/wine industry and made the move to Paso Robles, CA. There he established a beautiful winery with literally miles of vineyards along Highway 46 East.
With the Archiero family being so involved with Paso Robles community as well as the family's racing background, it seemed only fitting to have their beautiful Indy Type Race Car on display here in Paso Robles.
