1930 Morris Minor

1930 Morris Minor -
Coachbuilt Saloon
(4 small passengers)

Vehicle Type:
Morris Minor
Year Built:
1930
Built by:
Morris
Suspension:
Solid Axles Front and Rear, Leaf Springs Front and Rear, 4 wheel mechanical brakes, 78 inch wheelbase and 42 inch track
Engine:
4 cylinder, 347 cc (51.68 cubic inch) overhead cam and valves, Royal Automobile Club, RAC, rating of 8 hp with 3 speed transmission and is capable of speeds in excess of 50 mph.
History:

The Morris Minor was designed to be an affordable means of transportation.  It sold new in 1930 for 135 British Pounds.  Interesting is the fact that the British Government accepted RAC HorsePower ratings which was a number determined by the cylinder diameter and has nothing to do with tru enging HP output. (Small bore engines with long strokes were a common means of beating the tax man by most British manufacturers.)

This Morris Minor chassis is made of wood, ash, while the body panels are steel. It was assembled between 11/24/1930 and 11/29/1930 and was shipped to New Zealand in December, 1930. It remained in New Zealand until 2001 when it was shipped to the U.S., Paso Robles, California
