There is something going on all the time!
There's always something going on at the Estrella Museum (check out our Picture Archive pages ). Unlike many museums, this one is very active, and growing all the time. Thematic displays change at regular intervals to ensure that repeat visitors always find something new of interest, and historical artifacts are continually being added.
Aircraft, as well, are being worked on by Al Schade's talented restoration crews. Saturdays, starting at 8 a.m., are normally finds Al and his crew busy with aircraft restoration and museum upgrades. Trained and "not so trained" help is greatly appreciated!
Ritual dinner meetings for members plus other special events in the Glen Thomson Hall, as well, are open to the public. Excellent sit-down dinners are prepared in our own galley, also by members under the baton of a Master Chef, 6:30 p.m. (reservations required) on the first Wednesday of each month. These are followed by scheduled guest speakers and other entertainment.
Our popular thematic Hangar Dances, also open to the public, are presented a couple of times each year and always attract a good crowd of folks from around the Central Coast who enjoy the sounds and danceable rhyhms of big bands and swing combos. Just recently the Air National Guard presented a night of music to remember.
Additionally, the Museum hosts many aviation-oriented events sponsored by other groups, many of which are public. To this end we encourage people who have an interest in aviation or history, or who just want to know more about it, to join our group, maybe spend a few hours a month acting as a docent or helping out here and there with the chores — talent isn't as much a requirement as is spirit.
